Gremio signed an agreement with Bahia Atlantica SL and will pay $1.1 million as a commission for the transfer of players Gabriel Omar Amato and Leonardo Astrada. The legal dispute lasted for 12 years and involved a conviction of $250,000 in 2011. The Porto Alegre club managed to reduce the debt value after a long dispute. Bahia Atlantica alleged that it had signed a commitment term with Gremio in 2000, whereby the club undertook to pay $325,000 in commission. Going back, the case began to unfold in 2000, when Gremio hired players Gabriel Omar Amato and Leonardo Astrada. The Porto Alegre club was convicted to pay the commission in 2011, but managed to reduce the debt value after a long dispute. So, the agreement signed on Monday represents a great relief for the club. But, the long judicial dispute left marks on the club. The case involved several people, including the former vice president of finance of the club, Martinho. He stated that the club would not deliver the checks if it were not for a known person. Gremio also alleged that it had paid part of the debt, but Bahia Atlantica disagreed. The Porto Alegre club managed to prove that it had paid $20,000 to Magna Show Artes e Promoções Ltda, which was the assignee of the credit represented in the term. The agreement signed on Monday represents a great relief for the club, which can now focus on its sports activities. Gremio is currently in 5th position in the Brazilian Championship and is seeking a spot in the Copa Libertadores.
